Guitarist Daniel Lippel enjoys an eclectic career as a soloist, chamber musician, and recording artist. Upcoming events include recitals in Istanbul and Germany, and chamber music performances in Finland, China, and on the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center. Lippel’s performances have taken him across North America, Europe, and Japan, as well as to Australia, Argentina, and Taiwan. His recording of Bach transcriptions was listed among the “Best New Releases from North America” in the May 2006 issue of Gramophone, and his other releases on his independent label New Focus Recordings have received critical acclaim from American Record Guide, Guitar Review, Sequenza21, and Chicago Reader. Lippel is a member of ICE (International Contemporary Ensemble) and Flexible Music, and is an active participant in the contemporary music scene, having commissioned and premiered over fifty works for guitar as a solo instrument and in ensemble settings. Some of his appearances with these ensembles include Carnegie’s Zankel Hall, Boston’s Gardner Museum, Columbia University’s Miller Theatre, CAL Performances at UC Berkeley, and the Chicago Cultural Center. Daniel Lippel received his Doctoral degree in performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2006, under the guidance of David Starobin.
