EMMA TAHMIZIÀN

Bulgarian native pianist Emma Tahmiziàn has toured extensively throughout North America and Europe as a recitalist, soloist with orchestra, and chamber musician, stirring audiences and critics alike. Her international career was launched at nineteen, when she won the First Prize in the Robert Schumann International Competition in Germany and gave her Berlin debut. Since then, she has performed in major concert halls on both continents, and has appeared as a soloist with the Moscow, St. Petersburg, Halle, Brooklyn and Sofia Philharmonics, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the East Berlin Symphony. Lauréate of the Van Cliburn, Leeds, Tchaikovsky, Montréal, Bach and Smetana International Competitions, and the Pro Musicis Award, she has been featured on MIDEM Classique in Cannes with her recording of Beethoven’s Sonatas No. 31, No. 3 and Op. 111, and on major radio and television stations in France, UK, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, and the US. Recordings on Koch International, New World Records, Bridge Records, Premier, Balkanton, and Concord Classics labels. A graduate of the Bulgarian State Academy of Music and the Juilliard School, Ms. Tahmiziàn gives master classes and tours as a guest lecturer, visiting professor, and artist-in-residence nationwide, and, along with a long-standing association with the Bowdoin International Music Festival, she has appeared as a guest at various festivals in the US and Europe.
