LIZA ZURLINDEN

VIOLIN

 

Violinist Liza Zurlinden, originally from San Francisco, enjoys a career rich with chamber music, orchestral playing and teaching. Based in Boston, Liza is a member of the self-conducted chamber orchestra A Far Cry in Boston, the IRIS Orchestra, directed by Michael Stern, in Memphis, and the New Century Chamber Orchestra, led by Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg, in San Francisco. She also plays regularly with the Rhode Island Philharmonic and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, in New York. Liza has been enjoying a collaboration for the last year with the Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet Company in New York .

In addition to performing, Liza enjoys working with young people, and has coached chamber music and orchestra sectionals for members of the Boston Symphony Youth Orchestra, the New England Conservatory of Music Preparatory Dept. and the New York Youth Symphony. She also teaches private lessons through the public schools in Wellesley, MA.

Liza holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Michigan, a Master of Music degree from Rice University and an Artist Diploma from SUNY Purchase. Her primary teachers have included Paul Kantor, Kathleen Winkler and Laurie Smukler.
