Martin Mangrum studied bassoon for many years with Steven Maxym at Juilliard, ultimately escaping with a Doctorate. Later, he studied privately with Mordechai Rechtman in Tel Aviv. Second bassoon with the Montreal Symphony since 2000, his prior appointments include assistant principal bassoon with the Barcelona Symphony (OBC) and solo bassoon with the Royal Seville Symphony (ROSS) where he was a founding member of Solistas de Sevilla as well. A member of the bassoon faculties of McGill University and the Université de Montréal, he has also conducted master classes for the Orquesta Joven de Andalucia, the Orquesta Joven de Murcia and the FIM in Buenos Aires.
