MARVIN TOPOLSKY

DOUBLE BASS

Marvin Topolsky graduated from Juilliard after having studied with Fred Zimmerman, double bassist of the New York Philharmonic. He then proceeded to the Houston Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Leopold Stokowski. After touring Europe as part of the US Army’s Seventh Army Symphony, he played on Broadway with the Mike Nichols/Elaine May show. He is currently a member of the string bass section of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. He has performed at Monadnock Music for forty years. He has also performed at Chautauqua, NY and recently played in the world premiere of Eric Ewazen’s Quintet for Bass and String Quartet, a work commis¬sioned for him, with the Cassatt Quartet at the Juilliard School.
